design & Engineering

Using a full complex of contemporary computer technology, complemented with integrated interaction with CNC machines, skilled engineers turn drawings and design concepts into three-dimensional models to enhance customer visualization of final product configuration. Current software and hardware in use at inSync Manufacturing includes:

• S.D.R.S. Ideas master series running on Sun platforms
• Toolchest v7.2 CAM software running on HP Unix
• Autocad 2009
• Part Stress/Vibration analysis tools

Program compatibility available to interface with customer and or third-party project support includes standard data exchange processes over multiple platforms. Data types include IGS, SAT, DWG, DXF, ACIS, and other formats. Electronic data file exchange via internet is available.

In the tool path generation process, moving from two dimensional (2D) designs to three dimensional (3D) solid modeling and CAD-CAM outputs directly to EDM machines, a design idea can be visually produced, enhanced, changed, and finally configured to the desired end-item ready for production in either plastic or metal.

CAD: Computer-Aided Design
CAD capabilities with these tools include full 2D/3D drafting design, assembly, solid modeling, surfacing assembly modeling, parametric part design, and IGS translation across multiple platforms. The CAD system is a combination of hardware and software that enables our engineers, through the use of high-quality graphics monitors, digitizing tablets for drawing, and special printers or plotters for printing design specifications, to view a design from any angle and to zoom in or out for close-ups and long-distance views. In addition, the computer system keeps track of all design dependencies so that when an engineer changes one value, all other values that depend on it are automatically changed accordingly.

CAM:Computer-Aided Manufacturing
CAM capabilities include full 2D/3D contouring, multiaxis programming, and multiprocessor DNC interaction. This capability assists in factory automation such as:

• real-time control
• robotics
• materials requirements

This capability permits NC programmers to create programs to be input directly to a CNC machine in order to move a cutter along the programmed path creating the desired shape or surface.

CAE: Computer-Aided Engineering
Computer-Aided Engineering, these computer systems assist in the analysis of engineering designs through the simulation of a design under a variety of conditions to see if it actually works prior to prototype status.

Modeling
The process of representing 3-dimensional objects in a computer.
